For such a time as this
Have you ever felt like you were born in the wrong time period?
I’ve been told on many occasions that I was an old soul, going on 90, being wise and unusually mature at my young age. And I sometimes felt I belonged to another time period – maybe 50 years ago? I would have been great friends with my grandma!
Sometimes it’s hard to see why God has placed us where we are, with what we are, in all of who we are.
Sometimes it’s hard to see why your life matters NOW.
Esther was this beautiful woman who lived in the Middle East many many years ago. She was living with her uncle, minding her own business, when when suddenly her life gets changed. She becomes the wife of the King of Persia. What a title. What a life change. What a purpose.
She might not realize yet that God is setting her up for a very specific reason. To save an entire nation.
When it came down to accomplish her purpose – the very reason why God had elevated her in her place of power, she was extremely afraid: for her life, and for the lives of her family and her nation.
Her uncle answers her by saying, in Esther 4:14, some of the most powerful words I had ever read:
If you stay silent during this time, deliverance for the Jews will come from somewhere, but you, my child, and all of your father’s family will die. And who knows? Perhaps you have been made queen for such a time as this. (The VOICE)
Esther took her place and stepped into her purpose by doing something bold and risky.
What might God be asking us to do that would seem bold and risky? If God is asking us to do so, we are guaranteed success. With God, the victory is won and nothing can stop us.
If you are reading this, and these words are resonating with you, I can only encourage you to step into what God has placed before you. You were born at the right time, at the very place where God wanted you to be. Step into what He has for you. Don’t doubt, just do.
